Volunteer Descriptions

In addition to the duties fulfilled by the Board of Directors, the types of assistance NBRYSL needs this season, which would not require you joining the Board of Directors (other than Board Member), include:

Coaches
Coaches are needed for all age groups.  No experience is required. This league promotes enjoyment and fun first for all players as well as the parents.

Age Group Coordinator
The AGC is assigned an age group to form teams from registered players, works with the player waiting list, potentially recruits additional coaches as needed and generates schedules in preparation of the season. Acts as liaison between coaches and league throughout the season. They work out of their home using software/access to databases provided by the league on their own computer using their own Internet service provider. The Age Group Coordinators have to have good organizational skills. While you set your own schedule, you have to be deadline sensitive and prepared to invest a lot of hours between the last registration and start of the season.

Board Member
The Neighborhood Youth Soccer League is managed and run by a Board of Directors. The Board Officers are the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary plus an appropriate number of General Board Members, each dedicated to a specific area. The Board of Directors generally meets ONCE every 6 month throughout the year. If you feel you can make a long-term commitment to NBRYSL, we will be happy to discuss with you in greater detail what the various positions entail and which positions are available (which goes beyond the scope of the seasonal help we are soliciting in our online volunteer application, however, please complete the application so we know of your interest in joining the NBRYSL Board of Directors).

Coaches' Pickup Support
Coaches' Pickup is the pre-season meeting for coaches when the league distributes rosters, schedules, recreational U8-U12 T-shirt jerseys, picture, trophy and various other information. Volunteer help is needed at the office the week before the meeting to arrange materials for the coaches and the Saturday morning of the meeting to help with set-up and distribution.

Pre-season Field Maintenance
NBRYSL's fields require maintenance each season. This may involve removing debris, filling holes, spreading dirt, seeding, hanging nets and painting lines. This is usually a team effort performed on one of the weekends or in the late afternoon/evening right before start of the season.

  • Uniform Support: NBRYSL will order recreational T-shirt jerseys each season. They need to be sorted subject to color, age group and roster size of the respective U8-U12 recreational team to be available for distribution to our coaches. Done in one evening the week before the first game.

  • NBRYSL is now conducting background checks on all volunteers who interact directly with children. The new volunteer application requires all volunteers to first verify last name and date of birth, in order to check the previous database.
